Week 2

What happens when a turtle is married to the energizer bunny?  I’m not sure – I’ll let you know if the turtle ever gets out of bed.

For our pickleball friends -  There is a chapel in Page that has one court taped.  And it’s only a 20 minute drive to get from our little abode to the church.  Because we play with the junior missionaries that have to be done fairly early in the morning – we have to leave much earlier than the turtle wants.  The energizer bunny is happy and joyful.

If you have to get up early at least you get a beautiful view.

For our biking friends.  We have found a 3.5 mile loop around our area that is safe and wouldn’t you know it – has it’s fair share of hills.

There may be a bit of work to do here.  There were 6 members at church Sunday.  That’s because it snowed.  I’m not sure what would happen if a big snowstorm came.

Let’s talk about distances.  I get feeling sorry for myself when I have to travel more than 30 minutes to get into downtown Salt Lake City and unless it’s pretty important, won’t even go.  Here- just a little ways down the road could mean 10 miles or 30 miles.  Many people travel 30-50 miles to get to church.  We drove 95 miles one way to visit a member that wasn’t home.   By this second week – 30 miles seems like a short drive.

This is the short cut he says..........

We were fascinated by these rock formations - just couldn't find a road into them.  Someday.....

The base of that mountain is in our area.  The closest church is 40 miles from the majority of houses.

God asked Peter to give up his fishing nets and come follow him.  These people give a lot to come follow him.

Rich ever since his first mission here 50 years ago has loved the people and this culture.  He always talked about how beautiful it was down here.  I wasn’t all in, but I’m beginning to appreciate the unique beauty of this place.  But more than that, I’m learning to appreciate the peacefulness and the closeness that one can feel without all the worldly distractions.   (not to worry – I give myself one wordle game a day😊)

I pray for rain on a regular basis.  I think I’m being pretty good to ask for moisture for crops and of course my lawn.  I think about our farm in Nevada and know that it will suffer without the rain.  But I was humbled when the prayer in church was for enough rain to water the animals.  Praying for rain will take on new meaning for me.  I will worry less about my green lawn and more about those that rely on rain for their sustenance.
