These past weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind. One of our dearest friends died and we took a P day excursion to be with this family.
Remember the directions? This week it was turn at the pile of tires. You can’t really see the tires, but you do see a beautiful sunset. And this dirt road went on forever.
Remember our time dilemma? We missed a meeting because I thought it was one time zone and Rich thought it was another time zone. We are getting better at being specific which time zone we are talking about.
It’s a windmill and it’s going into a water tank. Of course, we need to check and see if there is water in the tank. Nope – bone dry. Please pray for moisture for this region.
We had a relief society birthday party on the 17th. The Relief Society President did a marvelous job. Her humble history of this great organization gave me pause as I contemplated the great sisterhood that I am part of. But, I knew that I was out of my comfort zone when the bingo game card square had “knows how to butcher” on it. Needless to say – bingo was not on my card.
This is what happens when you put on your favorite skirt and your favorite blouse and go to zone conference. 10 miles away – so no running home to change. Poor Rich – he couldn’t pretend I wasn’t his companion.
The people we are meeting are humble. They refer to their “sons”, “daughters”, “grandparents” etc even if there is no blood relation. I have quit trying to figure out who is related to who.
On the other side, drug and alcohol abuse is rampant. Many grandparents, aunts and uncles are raising the children whose parents are in the midst of addiction. I chuckled as I gave a Book of Mormon away and the fellow said - "Oh I love reading this when I'm in jail."
The Covid pandemic hit the Native American community hard. Poor nutrition, underlying health conditions, and lack of healthcare access resulted in a disproportionate death rate. Most every family has been impacted. Church services are just getting started again.
This is why we are here. We are here to give people hope through Christ. This song bears beautiful testimony of this truth. If you are struggling or hurting – please let Christ into your heart and soul and feel his love for you.
There is peace in Christ
When we learn of Him
Feel the love He felt for us
When He bore our sins
Listen to His words
Let them come alive
If we know Him as He is
There is peace in Christ
When we walk with him
Through the streets of Galilee to Jerusalem
Mend the broken hearts
Dry the tear-filled eyes
When we live the way He lives
There is peace in Christ
He give us hope
When hope is gone
He give us strength
When we can't go on
He give us shelter
In the storms of life
When there's no peace on Earth
There is peace in Christ
❤️❤️❤️
